Analysis of oral microbial dysbiosis associated with early childhood caries

Abstract Background "Core microbes" play a key role in the development of caries and lead to microbial disorders. Our goal was detect core microbes associated with microbiota imbalance early childhood (ECC). Methods Fifteen caries-free children fifteen high-caries (DMFT ≥ 10) aged 4–6 years old were recruited according diagnostic criteria suggested by WHO. The 16S rRNA genes from samples plaque saliva amplified PCR, PCR products sequenced Illumina Miseq platform. sequencing results analyzed professional software determine composition structure microorganisms. Results There statistically significant differences between groups regarding relative abundance Streptococcus mutans (Wilcoxon rank-sum test, P < 0.05). No difference found other species or functional genes. Conclusion S. , together pathogens, may prominent act as "core occurrence caries.
